Government Funding

All children are eligible for Universal Government funding from the term AFTER they turn 3 years old. Whilst this funding entitles the child to attend 15 hours a week, at Blues Preschool & Nursery there is no compulsion to take the full entitlement. The full 15 hours can be taken as 5 mornings, or a parent may choose, say, 2 full days and 1 morning (subject to availability). We are committed to accommodating funded children for their 15 hours. We also allow children to attend additional hours that are paid for at our hourly rate, subject to availability.

Further Government funding is available to eligible families as follows:

  • Supported Families & Working Parents Entitlement - 2 Year Funding - Some 2 year olds are eligible for Government funding which entitles them to attend for up to 15 hours per week. At Blues there is no compulsion to take the full entitlement. Parents often choose to start with 2 or 3 afternoon sessions. Click here to find out more.

  • Additional Entitlement Funding - Eligible families are entitled to a further 15 hours a week (a total of 30 hours per week). This is often referred to as 'Additional Entitlement'. We are pleased to be able to offer a limited number of places for eligible children to attend up to 28 hours (we are unable to offer the full 30 hours due to our Stay & Play sessions on a Thursday). These places are subject to availability and will be allocated on a first come, first served basis. Please contact our admissions officer for more information..

  • Tax Free Funding - Working families, including those who are self-employed, in the UK who are earning under £100k and at least £167 per week (equal to 16 hours at the National Minimum or Living Wage) each and not receiving any Tax Credits, Universal Credit or childcare vouchers may be eligible for up to £2000 a year per child towards childcare costs. This can be in addition to 30 hours funding if eligible for both. For full details see the Government website Tax-Free Childcare - GOV.UK (www.gov.uk).
